With more than 50 years experience, Relate is one of the nation’s leading training providers in relationship and interpersonal skills. Our stimulating training methods ensure a challenging and supportive two-way participatory experience, which can influence your personal and working life.

All Relate courses are taught by experienced counsellors/trainers, who are part of a skilled network, professionally trained and supervised by Relate. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable environment with the emphasis on experiential learning.

Business and voluntary sector training

Relate has designed and developed courses for a variety of organisations ranging from large corporations to charities and government agencies. Our clients include The Post Office, Marks and Spencer, Barclaycard, Employment Services, The Armed Forces, The Salvation Army and the Inland Revenue.

Relate offers courses including: Communication Skills; Conflict Resolution; Assertiveness; Dealing with Stress; Managing Change; and Time Management. In addition, we can also design and deliver programmes tailored to the needs of your organisation including listening and advice giving skills and managing emotional clients. The training will usually take place in small groups. We encourage people to talk about their experiences and to apply what they learn to their own work situations. Our courses can also lead to recognised qualifications through our accredited learning programme.

Relationship education in schools

Relate is in a prime position to offer support to schools in achieving Healthy School Status. Promoting positive emotional health and well-being to help pupils to understand and express their feelings, and build their confidence and emotional resilience and therefore their capacity to learn are stated as a requirement in the Healthy Schools guide for schools.

Relationship Education helps children understand the importance of healthy relationships and the impact that their choices will make on their lives.  Relate can deliver a learning programme in a fun and exciting format for key stages 1-2 on how to be a buddy.

Our Key Stage 3-4 programmes deal with more in-depth relationship issues relevant to the age group and are delivered in ready made lesson plans based on the curriculum modules.  We have also have a Peer Listening course.
